School History
For almost 100 years Grant School has been educating young minds in the beautiful and historic neighborhood of Mission Hills. Beginning as an elementary school at the start of World War I and expanding to include a middle school in 2008, Grant thrives as one of San Diego Unified’s top performing K-8 schools. For many years Grant served as a magnet school focusing on math and science but due to budget cuts and an increase in the need to serve neighborhood children, Grant’s magnet status will terminate at the end of the 2008-09 school year. School leaders, both staff and parents, are working together to craft a plan for continuing education excellence that will carry Grant into the future.
